VOL. 4, NO. 11: THE TRIBE TOUR EDITION

WELCOME back all you Road Warriors!!
Are you ready for the Second Leg and Headlining??!!! You better be, good things are a coming!!

TRIBE has been on a run in the last three (3) BILLBOARD Magazines. It has been in for:
1.) A review the issue before its release.
2.) Debut at #56.
3.) 2nd week at #166.

Hopefully, it will hang in there and improve in position. Let’s do our part to support the same.
The Empire Liaison Officer’s latest newsletter is out. You should have gotten a copy by now.

Also, if you have any pics you want to have placed on our website, forward the jpeg along to my attention. Let’s get some current tour pics online.
I.) THE CWE SHIRT:
We are still taking orders for the same. So, if you wish to order one, drop me a line to place the order. You can then forward the fundage to me at the usual address.

II.) NEW EMPIRES:
As you saw in the ELO Newsletter we have several new empires up and going. This is great news and, what’s even greater, is the fact that some of our CWE members have been instrumental in starting them!! Kudos to Don Triaga and "Mad Tex" Madeleine Teixeira for helping to "get the ball rolling" with The Empire of Steel and The Quebec Tribe Empire.

WELCOME NEW EMPIRES!!

III.) QR IN THE NEWS:
In addition to the opening herein, these are other publications where QR has surfaced:
1.) REVOLVER: "Tribe" Ad.
2.) CLASSIC ROCK (Magazine): A review of the Astoria , London gig.
3.) "The Sound of the Beast " , THE COMPLETE HEAD BANGING HISTORY OF HEAVY METAL (Book): Several references appear on QR in this comprehensive look at this genre from its beginning to the present.
4.) METAL EDGE : The latest issue has an interview.

IV.) CWE BASED BANDS:
We have a couple of bands in our midst that have some good music out there.
The one group is Detriment; which features our own Dennis Gaudio and Kevin Cassidy. Their 3 song disc, Sinister Rush, really rocks and you can find out more about them at their website, which is Detriment:: Enter the Surreal. Thanks for the copy gang. You guys rock!!

The other band is All Too Human, which is featured on our own Marctavius Scott’s record label, Nu Paradigm Music, at www.nuparadigmm.com. They have a really progressive rock sound and can be heard in the rotation on CWE radio. I appreciate the copy of their latest release, Entropy and Maurice Taylor’s kind letter. He is All Too Human’s bass player, who says,

"As you will be able to tell from our music, we are heavily influenced by QR, Dream Theater and other more visceral bands.
My favorite band for the longest time was Rush. Then I heard a couple of songs from Mindcrime. One day, while in the car, I heard "Queen of the Reich" on the radio and was hooked from that point on. Just went to the QR/DT show in Los Angeles. All I can say is awesome."

Check these 2 groups out and lend them your support. Also…………..

V.) CWE RADIO:
Marctavius has expanded the playlist on the station to include both the play of progressive music by underground and under-appreciated artists.
Be sure you check out the same. Marctavius has done a great job with the project. Be sure you tune in and check it out. Also, be sure to drop him a note of thanks and any questions/suggestions you may have.
THANK YOU Marctavius. Keep up the GREAT job.

VI.) SLAVES TO THE SYSTEM:
Rest assured that the band’s debut release will not be their only effort. The sophomore effort will be getting underway this fall per Scott Rock. So, I thought I would share this word from Scott in response to my question on the STTS sophomore effort :
"I spoke with Damon from STTS and he and I are arranging for the band to be in the studio sometime (hopefully)for the first part of November. Keep everyone posted."
Be sure to go to the STTS website, which has a link on the QR site, to join the fanclub. Get in on the ground floor and be a part of The Abyss.

VII.) REVIEW FROM KEVIN LAFLAM:
I read this at Bravewords.com:

QUEENSRYCHE Tribe (Sanctuary)
It’s easy to sound like a broken record with Queensryche. And it gets quite tiring to continue to be overly critical of a band that found their way into our hearts early on, only to continue to stab us with a dull knife. However, Tribe, once again heralded as a "true heavy return to form" is not as throwaway or mediocre as you might expect as we try to erase that nightmare Geoff Tate solo release from memory. And there was a genuine concern as the once-revered frontman appears to hold the most control these days. But with shredder Chris DeGarmo back in the fold (contributing for the first time since his 1997 departure), there is actually numerous moments on this, their ninth album, where those old dreary melodies, somber acoustics and vibrating shivers of moody metal have returned. Leadoff cut ‘Open’ pretty much sets the tone, guitars in the forefront, cruising along until Tate's soaring chorus line takes control. ‘Losing Myself’ is more modern, almost a danceable beat here. But don’t fret. ‘Desert Dance’ sees retribution, an Empire-type cut with Tate’s voice in full force and twin axes flailing – an excellent slice of prog and power combined. The intro for the title track could be pulled off of a Nevermore record; it is seething and refreshing and quickly finds a barbaric groove, Tate guiding us through the jungles of the band's minds. Drummer Scott Rockenfield and axemen DeGarmo and Michael Wilton play off each other effectively, making you wish the entire record had this vibe. And even though Tate’s reputation has gone through the ringer, his performance is dark and stellar. Yes, he still should be ranked beside the Dickinsons, Dios and Halfords of this world. ‘The Great Divide’, ‘Falling Behind’ and the upbeat yet kinda pointless closer ‘Doin’ Fine’ are melancholic and ballad-like, the former sounding like Def Leppard, but with more class and political notions. Amidst the mellowness, Tribe isn’t overly candy-coated, although ‘Rhythm Of Hope’ is the lone orchestral moment. ‘The Art Of Life’ is a moody expose and ‘Blood’ is another driving cut, as an Alex Lifeson-influenced lead permeates the soul and a sax solo makes an appearance. Nothing too critical though. At this stage in the game you’re certainly not expecting perfection from Queensryche, and there are few gaping holes in Tribe where over-polishing and a mellowing of age continues to haunt the band. But the record could’ve easily been another in a string of tragic casualties. The Queen doesn't appear dead yet.
7.0 Tim Henderson

THANKS for sharing with us Kevin. Good hearing from you.:)
