Greetings Fellow Collectors,
Littebro here, to give a few helpful hints to my fellow collectors. Here's some input about collecting QR memorabilia. My rating through the R.A.R.E. Society is at the Empire level. I have been collecting QR memorabilia for the past 6 years.
Let's start with a few points.
- Have fun collecting your memorabilia
- Watch your money, we all have seen Ebay.
- Before you start bidding on things look at the shipping cost, some of these seller's charge an arm and a leg.
- Shop around. One day you buy an item say for $40, a week or so later you find the same thing for $15. Don't get caught up in the moment of biding.
- Do some research! Just keep watching the items up for bid.
I have seen a few items on Ebay before that were autographed, and the autographs didn't look right. If you've seen many real Geoff Tate or Chris Degarmo autographs, use your judgment. If it looks suspect for not being a real autograph, then PASS on this item, SAVE your money. The same thing goes for any band members autographed item.
As your collection grows, and you move up in the R.A.R.E. Society, some items that are harder to come by go up in price, again shop around. It took me about 3 years until I was able to find and bid on an Operation Empire box set.
If you do decide to use Ebay, find a seller you can trust. Check there feedback.
One thing to remember about Ebay, it's an online auction, and there are no friends at any auction. (Sorry Colin and Thomas) LOL !!!!
When the band goes on tour, you will see the prices go up on Ebay. So, I would buy before the tour starts, but keep looking, you never know what you'll find. Remember, have fun, watch your money, we all work way too hard for our money these days.
